AMG COVID-19 EMERGENCY GRANT

  • REQUEST FOR EMERGENCY FINANCIAL AID GRANT FUNDS

Under the CARES Act, Pub. L. No. 116-136

AMG School of Licensed Practical Nursing received $245,715.00 in COVID-19 Emergency Grant funds to provide emergency financial assistance to eligible students who are experiencing hardship that could adversely affect their educational success.

The main criteria for the grant are based on the guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Education, which states that the student should demonstrate a genuine need and that the capacity for continued study may be in jeopardy due to financial hardship. Applicants must be able to provide documentation supporting the need.

We are using the CARES Act emergency aid funds to provide relief grant no greater than $1,500 per student subject to supporting documentation. However, the final award amount will be based on need as described in the student’s application and as supported by the appropriate documentation.

AMG will utilize three tiers guidelines to award the grant:

Tier I: Student demonstrating the greatest emergency need includes but is not limited to:

  • Homelessness due to loss of housing or threat of eviction
  • Domestic violence
  • Destruction of living quarters due to fire or natural disaster (primary residence)
  • Theft of computer, clothing, or other essential belongings
  • Overdue bills (medical, rent, utility turn-off notice)
  • Temporary or permanent loss of employment of the student, student spouse for an independent student, or loss of employment of parent for a dependent student
  • Unexpected expenses due to illness or death in the immediate family
  • A student in Tier I will be granted a maximum of $1,500

Tier II: Will be based on the student’s EFC reported on your FAFSA. A low EFC will be granted a maximum of $1,100.

Tier III: Will be based on the student’s EFC reported on your FAFSA. A medium EFC will be granted a maximum of $1,000.

The emergency grant can be used for expenses related to the disruption due to COVID-19 such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.
